Crystal of the Month: Aquamarine – Water of the Sea

I had to start this series of articles with my favourite gemstone and one which I work with and wear a lot – aquamarine. This stunning gem gets its name from the Latin “aqua marinus”meaning “water  of the sea.” Our aquamarine is sourced by hand directly from Brazil and we pride ourselves on having the most aqua of aquamarines. Often, you will find a rainbow within our aquamarine pieces.

Here at Ikigai Apparel, we view this gem as one of the “super crystals” as it has so many phenomenal properties. If you are a person who absorbs energy or stress around you very easily, this gem is great for protection.

This gentle and compassionate gem is believed to release anger, purify the body and provide clarity of mind. It is often used for enlightenment, spiritual awareness and the ability toconnect with yourself, both emotionally and intellectually.

This gem assists with self-courage and self-expression so it is an excellent stone for meditation, calming and balancing physical, mental and emotional chakras.

History Newsflash; In ancient lore, aquamarine was believed to be the treasure of mermaids. It was used by Sailors as a talisman of good luck, fearlessness and protection. In ancient Rome, lovers would exchange jewellery made with aquamarine because it was believed to strengthen pure love rather than lust!
