The Mindfulness Revolution

The Mindfulness Revolution

In June, I was lucky enough to be part of the Mindfulness Living Show which took place at the Business Design Centre in Islington.  As I was setting up, I saw other exhibitors stop and take time out for meditation – something I have never seen before.  This was truly one of the most calm, positive and uplifting shows I have been a part of, everyone was smiling.  I made a lot of amazing connections at this show and learnt a lot.

So what is mindfulness?  Mindfulness is having the capacity to be in the present moment.  It promotes a way of being that helps us take better care of ourselves and others, ultimately leading to a healthier lifestyle.  It enables us to draw on our own positive resources to deal with stress, daily struggles and illness.  Moreover, mindfulness can help us flourish and reach our full potential, simply by being in the present moment – something I personally struggle with.

Positive mental health is so important, and, with ever growing pressure, faster paced lives and a more tough economic landscape, mindfulness has become far more important than ever before.  According to Mind UK, 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem. In England, 1 in 6 people will report experiencing a common mental health problem such as anxiety and depression in any given week.

One of the special connections I made during the Mindfulness Living show was with Founder Sam Miller, of Life + Me.
